Acacia Ridge is home to approximately 6860 people (2006 census) and is located 13 kilometres south of the CBD. It is positioned either side of Beaudesert Road, which runs southwards along the suburb’s predominant ridge line. The name came from the ridge line and its most common vegetation, the acacia or the wattle tree. The suburb was established after the Second World War to house returning servicemen and their families. Many of the post-war dwellings still stand today. Acacia Ridge is primarily residential but is also home to heavy industrial area in the suburb’s east, occupying much of the suburb’s area east of Beaudesert Road.
Acacia Ridge is in the State Electoral District of Sunnybank and the Federal Division of Oxley.
