Gawler is South Australia's first country town situated at the junction of North and South Para Rivers. The town has the flat Adelaide Plains to the west and the Barossa Ranges to the east.
Because of our country atmosphere Gawler is a pleasant and enjoyable place to live. The majority of our district is within one hour of the city with access even easier now with the completion of the brand new Northern Expressway which makes commuting by vehicle even quicker and easier. The Adelaide to Gawler rail service have express services which can mean as little as a 40 minute commute from Gawler into the heart of the City.
The current population of Gawler is around 20,000 and with new urban growth areas planned for Gawler and its surrounding districts this will soon increase considerably.
Shopping is well catered for in Gawler with many big name retailers operating in Gawler and other shopping centres such as Munno Para and Elizabeth only minutes drive away.
Private colleges, public and religious schools, pre-school centres and kindergartens cater for our students.
There are many and varied sporting organisations in the area including a recently redeveloped horse racing facility. Lots of picnic areas, parks, cycle and walking trails add to Gawler's fantastic lifestyle.
Within 40 minutes of Adelaide, a 20 minute casual drive from the world renowned Barossa Valley wine district and one hours drive away from the Yorke Peninsula and the Murray River, Gawler is truly ideally located.
