some 767 square kilometres and is home to around 114,000 people.
The Shire features Lake Samsonvale and Lake Kurwongbah which supply water to the

Pine Rivers-much of it at the Brendale Industrial Estate including major retail
and light industrial development.
Samford was first founded over 130 years ago when settlers commenced farming in
the district. Beef, dairy, citrus and pineapple farms were common in the area
and many still continue today. The opening of the railway in 1918, was a
tremendous help for farmers to transport produce to Brisbane Markets.
Located within 15 minutes from Samford is Mt. Glorious and Mt. Nebo, which
offers unique mountain landscapes covered in lush and dense tropical rainforest.
The spectacular scenery and views over Brisbane City, Samford Valley and the
distant coastline and islands are not to be missed. Resident arts and
crafts communities contribute to the bohemian ambience of this unspoilt
paradise. Activities include bushwalking, barbecues, restaurants and arts

Walking tracks are available for recreation through bushland and river side, as
well as the lookout and cafe situated at the top of Mt Glorious.
