Wyndham’s population at June 30, 2010 was estimated to be 147, 508 and the population is expected to reach over 277,000 by 2026. From 2009 to 2010, Wyndham’s population has increased by 7.1% (or approximately 10,000 residents); that's about NEW 9 households a day!
It is not hard to see why so many find this area so attractive, located with-in 25 minutes of the Melbourne CBD and 30 minutes of central Geelong via the toll-free M1 freeway, the area offers great public facilites and is earmarked for significate growth in the next 3-5 years.
There is a great public transport system including trains to Melbourne and Geelong and an extensive local bus network. There is also a new train line being added with stations in Wyndham Vale, Tarneit & Truganina by 2012.
There are a number of public and private schools as well as a university and tafe college with redevelopments, expansions and new schools opening every year.
The Werribee Mercy Hospital, including a large emergency department, is the health center of Wyndham and is supported by a number of general medical centers, specialists and state of the art medical technology centres.
The Werribee Plaza Shopping Centre is the largest of 4 central shopping centers and includes large departments stores such as Myer and entertainment venues such as Village Cinemas.
The Werribee South Beach and Boat Ramp and Werribee River precinct offer great recreational facilities and the addition of a world class marina in Werribee South will only compliment the current array of recreation precincts.
There are also a number of well known tourist attractions including The Werribee Mansion, Open Range Zoo, World Class Equestrian Centre, Werribee Racecourse & Point Cook RAAF Air Base & Museum.
