Catching up with Elders national real estate training manager Geoff McGilvray

We recently caught up with Elders national real estate training manager Geoff McGilvray to find out what he's been up to over the past month.

While Geoff is normally based in the Melbourne CBD, he spent most of June on the road in New South Wales, delivering the NSW Stock Agents Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program.

This is a renewal of license requirement for all NSW stock and station agents – and this year, the approximately 200 stock agents employed with Elders got to hear some more about the new National Company Policy on Animal Welfare during a series of one-day training sessions, which were held in seven locations across the state.

In addition to travelling from Echuca to Tamworth and everywhere in between, Geoff spent quite a bit of time in Albury last month, delivering a Property Management CPD day, as well as a NSW Certificate of Registration Course. He also spent some time in south Queensland, carrying out a CPD session in Toowoomba.

But he also made time for some personal professional development as well, travelling to the Gold Coast to attend a PPM property management conference.
Geoff's travels have helped him view the diverse landscape of the Australian real estate market firsthand – and while individual agents can't be responsible for movements in the market that happen outside of their control, he remains committed to ensuring that Elders agents right across the country can grow and build their personal income.

The challenges faced by each region can vary, he said, and some agents, particularly in certain regional areas, are doing it tough. When the market gets challenging, it's important to narrow the focus beyond the bigger picture and help individual agents maximise their chances of success.

Geoff is back on the road later this month before taking some much-deserved time off in August. He'll be carrying out workshops in Orange and Dubbo which will include a two day auction process workshop, before heading to Brukunga later in the month for a two-day session that will be attended by Elders agents from across SA.
