ROBINSON CRUSOE DIDN'T HAVE IT THIS GOOD
Brilliant white sand showcases the sparkling sea of Frederick Henry Bay as you gaze across Sloping Island to the mountains of southeast Tasmania from this idyllic site right on the beachfront.
Like Robinson, you will need to look hard for other footprints in the sand because although it is 20 minutes as the crow flies to Hobart, you could be miles from anywhere.
The story goes that one keen commuter used to do a 20 minute run to Cremorne opposite in the family run-about before driving to his Bellerive office.
The nesting Green Rosellas and Swifts appreciate the tall gums that remain on the block and the Fairy Penguins can sometimes be heard squabbling over land rights at night.
A sympathetic architect has drawn a full set of plans for a human shelter which will blend with the natural environment and make Mr. Crusoe's abode appear very non 21st Century. Plans were approved by Council in 2015.
It's not the Gilbert and Ellis Islands but there is a wealth of fun to be had living by the sea at Sloping Main; so splice the main brace me hearties and call Paul for a treasure map.
