Historically the farms have been operated as mixed farming operation on a 50% Crop and 50% pasture basis. The principal crop has been barley with wheat, oats and canola in rotation, all based on the quality sub clover and medic pastures.

Over the years the property has run a very successful merino operation in conjunction with the crossbred sheep operation on an additional property.

Allumbia and Mrs Birts are part of the ephemeral Bryde River which originates in Lake Bryde to the east of Pingrup. The Bryde River joins with the Pingrup river to become the Lockhart River, in the zone of ancient drainage know as the Lockhart River Sub-catchment .
